Alice Girouard, a doctoral student in clinical psychology (Ph.D. R/I), and Dr. Sophie Bergeron, our laboratory director, contributed to an article written by Jacinthe Dion and published in the Archives of Sexual Behavior last June. Entitled “Dating violence trajectories in adolescence: How do they relate to sexual outcomes in Canada?“, this article focuses on data from the PRESAJ study. Conducted by Dr. Bergeron and Dr. Jacinthe Dion, the PRESAJ study focuses on precursors of youth’s sexual and romantic relationships. Results show that victimization due to violence in romantic relationships is associated with lower sexual satisfaction and more sexual distress over time. The authors highlight the importance of implementing programs to prevent dating violence among adolescents, given its negative effects on their sexual well-being.
