Feeling Understood and Supported by One’s Partner: A Key Factor in Adolescent Sexual Well-Being

Titled π™‹π™šπ™§π™˜π™šπ™žπ™«π™šπ™™ π™‹π™–π™§π™©π™£π™šπ™§ π™π™šπ™¨π™₯π™€π™£π™¨π™žπ™«π™šπ™£π™šπ™¨π™¨ 𝙄𝙨 π˜Όπ™¨π™¨π™€π™˜π™žπ™–π™©π™šπ™™ π™’π™žπ™©π™ π˜Όπ™™π™€π™‘π™šπ™¨π™˜π™šπ™£π™© π™Žπ™šπ™­π™ͺ𝙖𝙑 π™’π™šπ™‘π™‘π™—π™šπ™žπ™£π™œ π™Šπ™«π™šπ™§ 1 π™”π™šπ™–π™§, the article examines associations over a one-year period between adolescents’ perceptions of their partner’s responsiveness and support and their sexual well-being (sexual satisfaction, desire/arousal, orgasm difficulties, and sexual distress), as well as differences related to gender and sexual orientation.

The findings show that feeling understood, supported, and accepted by one’s partner plays an important role in adolescents’ sexual satisfaction and desire/arousal, regardless of their gender or sexual orientation.
