We are pleased to announce the renewal of Dr. Sophie Bergeron’s Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Intimate Relationships and Sexual Well-Being for a seven-year term (2026–2033).

This renewed Chair aims to better understand what prevents adolescents transitioning to adulthood and adults from establishing satisfying intimate relationships and sexual well-being. It will also examine the interpersonal factors that facilitate healthy relationships and well-being, such as social support, intimacy, and attachment, and develop and evaluate innovative interventions to improve intimate and sexual relationships among individuals and couples.

The Chair’s programming will also focus on the challenges of equity, diversity, and inclusion, specific to vulnerable populations.

This renewal is a testament to Dr. Bergeron’s outstanding contributions to the fields of relationship and sexual health research and will continue to support the laboratory’s mission of improving the well-being of individuals and couples.

Congratulations to Dr. Bergeron on this remarkable achievement!
